After a traumatic past, Roxanne Shante is married to a “wonderful” husband

11

Roxanne Shante had been through a lot in her life, both good and unpleasant.

Roxanne Shante (born Lolita Shante Gooden) may not have had the same economic success as some of the top female rappers, but she is widely regarded as the OG among female rappers.

Contribution of Shante and Wonderful Husband

For most female rappers, Shante is a role model to emulate.

She began her rap career as an emcee at the age of nine, gaining the title of Queensbridge Battle Champion. She joined Rap Attack, one of the radio shows, at the age of 14 and battled fiercely with the males to win the game.

She eventually released her debut track, ‘Roxanne Speaks Out,’ which launched her career as rap’s first female star and made her an overnight sensation. With her talent, she was the first woman to command respect in a male-dominated genre.

Her meteoric climb to prominence, however, was marred by a tumultuous upbringing and a bleak adulthood. She finally took a step back from the spotlight.

Shante is now happily married to Jabbar Ali, whom she describes as “amazing.” She and her husband have been married since 2017 and have two children together.

There isn’t much known about her husband, but she did mention that he is a retired boxer in an interview with Vlad TV. A brief glance at his Facebook page reveals that he is a strong supporter of his wife and an outspoken advocate for African-American equality.

Shante’s Troubled Past

Shante’s marriage is today joyful, but she had a difficult time finding serenity. The singer discusses her experiences as a teenage mother and her violent relationship in an interview with Vlad TV. She had her first child when she was 15 years old.

She explained that she didn’t find being a mother difficult at that age because she already had maternal instincts from caring for her sister. She also didn’t have to worry about covering the costs because her music business paid for her childcare.

The artist takes her son everywhere with her, even on tour, and she credits him with saving her life.

“After the shows, I could not drink, smoke, or go to after-parties because I had responsibilities. I had a child to take care of. “

She admitted that she had been subjected to domestic abuse by her child’s father, and that it was not because of her kid. She revealed that he (her child’s father) despised her work and celebrity, and that the abuse had grown so serious that she had to go to the hospital with fractured ribs.

That was the last straw for her, and she left him when she was just sixteen years old.
