Alan Rickman was born Alan Sidney Patrick Rickman in Hammersmith, West London, England, on February 21, 1946. Margaret Doreen Rose (née Bartlett) and Bernard William Rickman were his parents. His Catholic father worked as a factory worker, decorator, and house painter, as well as a former World War II aircraft fitter, while his Methodist mother stayed at home.

He was raised with his three siblings, David Rickman and Michael Rickman, two brothers, and Sheila Rickman, a sister. Michael, his brother, is a Leicestershire District Councillor. Personal Life of Alan Rickman

Rima Horton, Alan Rickman’s lifelong love, was his wife. Horton was a member of the Labour Party and an economics lecturer. In 2012, the couple married in a private ceremony in New York City, which Rickman confirmed in a 2015 interview.
