Aliya-Jasmine “AJ” Sovani was born in Ottawa, Canada, on November 18, 1982. Her father came from a Persian family. She is of Persian and African-Indian ancestry and is a Canadian citizen. Sovani was born and raised in Barrhaven, where he attended John McRae Secondary School. Her parents had a big influence on her. Her mother worked for the Canadian government as a director-general. She then enrolled at Harvard University to pursue her certification in social media and digital marketing. During the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, Canada, Sovani worked as a reporter for CTV and hosted the Olympic Morning Show. She is best known for hosting the MTV show Play with AJ. She even hosted MTV’s following show, 1 Girl 5 Gays.

Sovani also works as a reporter for Fox Sports West. She has also worked as a host and producer for E! News and E! News Now. She produced the series IMPACT and hosted a show called Last Call on Bravo.
