Professional Career

Early in life, Bobby East took up racing. He was the youngest driver to win a feature race at the Schererville, Indiana-based Illiana Motor Speedway in 2001 when the USAC National Midget competition was running there. He was 16 years old at the time. Bobby East won the 2004 USAC National Midget Series, which helped his success to grow even more. His father created the car’s chassis, which he drove in the Steve Lewis Racing No. 9.

Throughout the 2004 USAC season, he claimed 15 victories throughout the three divisions of the competition. He won seven national midget races, five national sprint races, one in the Silver Crown, one in the Western States Sprint Car Series, and one in the Speedrome Regional Midget Series. In addition to the Turkey Night Grand Prix, he won the Hut Hundred.

He switched to racing stock cars after the good season. In the first two NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series races he attempted to qualify for, he was unable to do so. His vehicle was the No. 33 Ford of Roush Racing. In Phoenix, where he qualified, he crashed his car and placed 30th overall. The Homestead season-finale, when he raced the No. 21 for Wood Brothers/JTG Racing, was another attempt at qualifying that he failed to make.

During the 2005 Talladega race, he made his ARCA Re/Max Series debut. For K Automotive Racing, he operated the No. 29 Ford. At Memphis in 2005, he debuted in the NASCAR Busch Series. He came in at number 17 while operating the No. 46 for ST Motorsports. In terms of points, he came in 23rd place in 2006.

Cause Bobby East’s Death

On July 13, 2022, at the Westminster, California, 76 gas station, Bobby East was fatally shot during a violent argument with an unidentified assailant. Trent Millsap approached him while he was filling up his car, and the two of them engaged in verbal conversation. East was wounded by Millsap with a knife to the chest, and after being taken to the hospital, he passed away from his wounds. Later, authorities discovered Millsap hiding at an apartment in nearby Anaheim while wanted on suspicion of violating his parole. He was shot and killed by Orange County police officers.
