Brett Lee went to Oak Flats High School and Balarang Public School. He began his playing career with the Oak Flat Rats junior team, moved on to New South Wales, and eventually, thanks to his outstanding ability, was chosen to represent Australia.

Brett Lee, one of the finest and quickest bowlers in the world, was born on November 8, 1976, in the Australian neighborhoods of Oak Flats and Mount Warringal parents metallurgist Bob and piano instructor Helen. His younger brother Grant is also a former state-level athlete who is now a CPA, while his older brother Shane is a retired all-rounder. He went to Oak Flats High School and Balarang Public School. Dennis Lillee, who later served as his mentor during his formative years, is revered by him.

Career

Since he was a little child, Lee has been enamored with cricket and has always wished to be a fast bowler. He began playing cricket with the Oak Flat Rats junior squad. Brett Lee eventually earned a spot in the New South Wales side, where he won over Australian captain Steve Waugh with his outstanding play in U-17 and U-19 competitions.

He was eventually chosen for the Australian team after making his debut in 1999 against India. By taking seven wickets, Lee outperformed the competition.

With his exceptional bowling prowess in the competition against Pakistan in 2000, Lee shot to fame. Since that time, he has been regarded as one of Australia’s top pace attackers. He contributed significantly to his team’s win in the 2003 World Cup by capturing 22 wickets.

Achievements

With his rare ability of fast bowling with reverse swing Brett lee had set many records in his international cricket career. Lee was the first player in the T20 format to take a hat trick. Lee is the second Australian bowler after Mitchell Starc to take the fastest 100 wickets in the ODI format.

After the retirement of eminent members of the Australian squad like Glenn McGrath and Shane Warne, Lee became one of the reliable pillars of his team. He ensured the domination of the Australian squad in International cricket. Unfortunately due to injuries, he decided to take retirement from international cricket on 13th July 2012.

He got the very prestigious ‘Bradman Young Cricketer of the Year in 2000 and ‘The Allan Border Medal’ in 2008. Also, he was awarded ‘Wisden Young Cricketer of the Year twice in 2000 as well as in 2006. After his retirement, he served as a coach, an IPL player as well as a commentator.
