Bryan Adams was born in Kingston, Ontario, Canada on November 5, 1959. Captain Conrad J. Adams and Elizabeth Jane Adams, his American parents, immigrated to Canada in 1950. His ethnicity is White, and he is a Canadian citizen.

His father served in the British Army as a Sandhurst Officer before joining the Canadian Army and later serving as a United Nations peacekeeping observer for Canada.
