Abuse of the sex

Miller went to a party at Stanford University’s Kappa Alpha Fraternity on January 17, 2015. Brock Turner, a freshman at Stanford on a swimming scholarship, attended the party as well. At the moment, he was 19 years old. The two got along well at the party while drinking beer and dancing.

Turner was discovered unconscious on top of Miller by two Swedish graduate students. After they challenged Turner, he fled the scene. One kid was pursuing Turner, while the other was checking to see if Miller was breathing. Turner was grabbed and held to the ground by the students until campus police came and arrested him.

Miller was brought to the hospital and regained consciousness at about 4:15 a.m. According to a nurse who performed a Sexual Assault Response Team evaluation at the hospital, Miller suffered extensive and penetrating trauma. Miller claimed she had no memory of the encounter. She also said she had no recollection of making phone calls to her sister. She had vomited on the scene before being carried away by EMS.

Sexual Assault Charges

On January 20, Stanford suspended Turner from campus, and USA Swimming barred Turner from ever competing for the United States in a competitive swimming event.
Turner was charged on January 28, 2015, with two charges of rape, two counts of penetration, and one count of assault with intent to rape as a result of the investigation.

There was no genetic evidence of genital-to-genital touch, according to DNA tests. As a result, at a preliminary hearing on October 7, 2015, the two rape accusations were withdrawn.
People v. Turner’s trial began on March 14, 2016, in Santa Clara County Superior Court. On March 20, 2016, Turner was found guilty of three felonies: assault with intent to rape an intoxicated woman, sexually penetrating an intoxicated person with a foreign instrument, and sexually penetrating an unconscious person with a foreign object.
Prosecutors sentenced Turner to six years in jail.
Turner was imprisoned for three months in Santa Clara County. He was released on September 2, 2016.
