Christopher Clive Froome is a British road racing cyclist for UCI ProTeam Team Sky. He is most recognized for being one of the most successful Tour de France riders in history. He has four Tour de France victories to his credit.
Early Life, Age, Parents
Jane and Clive Froome, the talented cyclist, were born on May 20, 1985, in Kenya, Africa. He is British and belongs to the Caucasian ethnic group.
His mother took him to his first organized bike race championship when he was thirteen years old, which he won. He went to Rugby School and St. Andrew’s School, as well as St. John College. He was interested in cycling since he was a child. In 2007, at the age of 22, he transformed his hobby into a professional career. For the Union Cycliste Internationale’s World Cycling Centre team, he competed in the U23 Nations Cup. Robbie Hunter introduced him to the South African second-tier UCI Professional Continental team headquartered in the United Kingdom.
Froome joined the Tour de France in 2011 and returned to racing in May 2012 for the Tour de Romandie, where he helped Wiggins win the race overall before heading to the Teide training camp. He gained the race lead on stage four in 2013 and went on to win the next two stages to extend his lead. He continued to compete in all seasons until 2017, and he won the majority of them.
Private Life
In 2009, Froome met Michelle Cound through South African rider Daryl Impey. They both moved to Monaco in 2011 and got engaged after four years of dating in 2013.
In November of 2014, Froome and Cound married. Kellan, their son, was born to them. Froome dedicated his Tour de France victory to his mother, who died of cancer. He was made an officer of the Order of the British Empire in the 2016 New Year Honours for services to cycling.
