Diane Coates’ significant other, Kim Coates, is a Canadian-American entertainer who has appeared in several films and television shows. He is most recognized for his role in the FX series Sons of Anarchy as Alexander Tig Trager. His guest appearances included Prison Break, Cold Case, CSI, CSI: Miami, and other shows.

He worked as a backup carpenter in a few films before landing his first recognized role in the parody Palais Royale. He portrayed Stanley Kowalski in A Streetcar Named Desire. At the time, he was the youngest actor to play Macbeth at the Stratford Festival in his native Canada.

Kim made his cinematic debut in The Boy in Blue (1986), which launched his career, and he has since acted in over 100 films. In 1987, he made his television debut in the series Miami Vice.
