Dorothy Stratten: Early Life and Family

Dorothy Stratten was born on February 28, 1960, and her full name is Dorothy Ruth Hoogstraten. Sadly, she died at the age of 20. Dorothy was born at Grace Maternity Hospital in her hometown of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Simon and Nelly oogstraten are Dorothy’s parents.

They are immigrants from the Netherlands. She also has two younger siblings. They have a brother who was born in 1961 and a sister who was born in May 1968. Her brother is John Arthur, and her sister is Louise Stratten.

In 1977, Dorothy Stratten attended Centennial High School in Coquitlam, British Columbia. She was also working part-time at a Dairy Queen nearby. There she met Paul Snider, a 26-year-old club promoter and pimp from the Vancouver region who began dating her.

Dorothy was later photographed naked by Snider, who hired a photographer. In the summer of 1978, he forwarded them to Playboy magazine. Because she was under the age of 19, she had her mother sign the model release form.

Dorothy Stratten Dating Life (Relationship)

Dorothy Stratten dated Paul Snider, a 26-year-old Vancouver club promoter and pimp. Dorothy and Paul were married in June 1979 and lived in West Los Angeles. Dorothy went on to date Peter Bogdanovich. Unfortunately, after agreeing to formalize their divorce, Paul murdered his young wife and committed suicide with the same shotgun he used to kill Dorothy.

Professional Career

In August 1979, she has crowned Playboy Playmate of the Month, and in 1980, she was named Playmate of the Year. She also appeared in three comedy pictures and at least two episodes of a series that aired on US network television.
Unfortunately, her estranged husband and manager Paul Snider murdered her at the age of 20. Paul also committed suicide on the same day.
Dorothy’s death sparked the creation of two films. The films are Death of a Centerfold (1981) and Star 80 (1983), as well as the novel The Killing of the Unicorn and the songs “Californication” by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, “The Best Was Yet to Come” by Bryan Adams, and “Cover Girl” by the Canadian rock band Prism.
Dorothy moved to Los Angeles in August 1978 after being named a finalist in the 25th Anniversary Great Playmate Hunt.
Paul Snider joined her in October, and the couple married the following June. Her surname was reduced to Stratten, and she was also named Playboy’s Miss August 1979. She later became a Bunny at the Playboy Club in Century City, Los Angeles.
Hugh Hefner was optimistic about Dorothy Stratten’s success as an actress. Dorothy featured in episodes of the television shows Buck Rogers and Fantasy Island.
