In 1990, he starred alongside James Earl Jones, Laila Robins, and Madge Sinclair in the television series Gabriel’s Fire. However, his role in the television series Nip/Tuck catapulted him to new heights in his career, earning him a Satellite Award nomination for Outstanding Actor in a Series, Drama.

In 2002, the actor made his mark in a feature film with the film We Were Soldiers, which starred Mel Gibson, Madeleine Stowe, and Sam Elliott. In 2018, he landed the lead role in the TV show Life Sentence.

In 2019, he starred opposite Donnie Wahlberg, Tom Selleck, and Bridget Moynahan in the television series Blue Bloods.
