Early childhood development and education

Elle Macpherson was born in Killara, New South Wales, on March 29, 1964. She is the daughter of nurse Frances Gow and entrepreneur and sound engineer Peter Gow, who was also the previous president of a Sydney rugby league team.

Her parents divorced when she was ten years old, and she was raised by her mother and two siblings. Her mother then remarried, but when she registered at her new school, she made a mistake, and her surname was changed from Gow to Macpherson.
She attended Killara High School in East Lindfield, on Sydney’s North Shore, where she was raised. Macpherson studied law at the University of Sydney for a year after graduating from high school in 1981. Her ethnicity is white.

Career

Elle enrolled at Sydney University to study law. She traveled to the United States before beginning her university studies to work as a model for another year in order to fund her legal books.

She flew to New York City and signed with Click Model Management. In 1982, Macpherson began her modeling career with a television commercial for Tab.

Elle’s fame grew after her successful appearance, and she began starring in advertisements, which led to her walking the runways for prominent brands such as Ralph Lauren, Louis Vuitton, Nicole Miller, Calvin Klein, and Valentino.

Following her role in the 1994 film Sirens, she discovered that the media had begun looking for images of her and had even called her ex-boyfriends.

A career in business

Elle joined the new generation of supermodels in 1980, alongside Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista, Tatjana Patitz, Pavlina Porizkova, Naomi Campbell, and Cindy Crawford. Later in 1994, Macpherson quit her modeling agency, Ford Models, to form Elle Macpherson Inc., which would serve as the financial and organizational foundation for her future undertakings.
Later, she expanded her business portfolio by working with Bendon Limited Apparel to establish her lingerie line, ‘Elle Macpherson Intimates,’ in 1990.

The collaboration was one of the first examples of a model and a fashion label collaborating. Bendon invited Elle to sell their lingerie in Australia for the first time in 1989. She recognized a chance to change their strategy there and proposed a licensing deal with the producers.

She was achieving greater success in both her job and business, and in 2007, the BBC TV series The Money Programme aired a documentary following Macpherson as she went about her daily business.

Her international lingerie company continued to grow. Elle gave the Keynote Address at the International Trademark Association’s annual convention in 2009.

Career as an actor

Elle Macpherson made her film debut in the 1994 picture Sirens, alongside Sam Neill, Hugh Grant, and Tara FitzGerald, as an artist’s model. She acted in a number of films over the course of two years, including Batman & Robin, Woody Allen’s Alice, and The Edge.

Private life

In early 1980, Ellen Macpherson had her first boyfriend, Billy Joel, but their relationship did not last long.
On a picture shoot for Elle magazine in 1984, she met French fashion photographer Gilles Bensimon. In 1986, they married and divorced in 1989.

In 1996, she began a relationship with Arpad Busson, a French banker based in London. Flynn Busson (born in 1998 in New York City) and Aurelius Cy Andrea Busson are their two children (born in 2003, in London). Their love, however, did not survive long, and they divorced in July 2005.

In early 2009, she was observed seeing Jeffery Soffer, a Miami, Florida-based hotel heir who is also a billionaire. They split up in March 2012 due to several issues but patched things after he was injured in an accident in November. Elle and Jeffrey Soffer got engaged in March 2013 and married in March of the following year. Elle and her husband recently declared that they were divorcing, although the reason for this is yet unknown.
