Errol Barnett was born in Milton Keynes, England, on April 3, 1983, to Pamela and Michael Christie. Danny Christie, Errol’s older brother, was with him for the majority of his childhood. Errol’s mother later remarried Gary Barnett, a Gulf War veteran who was a US Air Force sergeant. Errol and his family later moved to the Arizona city of Phoenix.

Education

Barnett went to Garden Lakes Elementary School before transferring to Westview High School after relocating to Arizona. After that, he enrolled at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Errol was a member of the business fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi at UCLA, and he also worked as a correspondent and host on the Reelz Channel, a movie-centric cable network. In 2008, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science with a concentration in international relations. His passion was very high in journalism. So he was hired by Channel One News and relocated to Los Angeles in no time.

Career

While he was 18 years of age, in 2001, Errol began working for Channel One News as an anchor/reporter. He was the youngest anchor on the Channel. Barnett continued to work hard and amass a large number of media appearances. He went on to cover Barack Obama’s keynote speech at the 2004 Democratic National Convention, as well as the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Errol left Channel One News later that year after being accepted to UCLA to complete his undergraduate studies. Fortunately, CNN International hired him as an anchor and correspondent after he graduated in July 2008. Errol went on to anchor ‘World Report’ and ‘iReport for CNN’ and report on the rise in power of social media sites like Facebook and Twitter during his first few years at CNN.

He was a part of the most-watched streaming-video event in history when he appeared on CNN.com during US President Barack Obama’s Inauguration. Errol covered the death of President Nelson Mandela, the Oscar Pistorius murder trial, and the 50th anniversary of the African Union’s founding while based at CNN’s Johannesburg bureau in South Africa. While working for CNN in Atlanta, Georgia, Barnett covered the Ferguson, Missouri protests, the death of Robin Williams, and, more recently, the search for Malaysia Airlines Flight 370.

Nyasha Zimucha is Errol’s girlfriend at the moment. Nyasha is a professional model, as well as an African TV personality, singer, and dancer. She was born in South Africa and grew up in the United States. Nyasha is well-known for her appearances in The A-List: New York, Little Miss Perfect, and Fashion New Line, as well as her participation in the 2008 Miss Africa pageant.
