Garrett Tenney is an American journalist and reporter who has been based in the Washington, D.C. bureau of FOX News since 2011.

He spent two years in Kenya as a Christian missionary.

Garrett Tenney moved around a lot as a kid. Tenney had lived in seven different states and migrated more than ten times by the time he graduated high school.

He attended Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah, and spent two years in Kenya as a volunteer missionary, promoting the doctrines of the university’s affiliated church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Tunney returned to the United States in 2010 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism from Brigham Young University.

Career

Garrett Tenney began his career in media in 2003 as the anchor/producer of T/E TV in Berwyn, Pennsylvania. Tenney interned with Comcast for three months from April to June 2004 after 9 months at the station, where he became a sportscaster for NBC Sports Philadelphia (formerly, Comcast SportsNet).

From April to June 2009, he interned at KSL Sports, then from July to August 2009, he interned at KSNV-TV, a CBS affiliate based in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Tenney joined Brigham Young University’s broadcast station, BYU Broadcasting, in April 2008 and rose through the ranks to become the head of the production crew. He worked with the channel’s hardware and sound equipment behind the scenes, as well as the production of numerous programs.

Tenney continued to work as a reporter, anchor, and producer for BYU Broadcasting’s newscast, KBYU ElevenNEWS, where he co-hosted a daily half-hour broadcast and shot and produced stories for the show.

From April to August 2010, he interned at FOX News’ New York Bureau for five months. As part of the Ailes Junior Reporters Program at FOX News, he obtained a full-time job. He joined the network in January 2011 and worked out of Jackson, Mississippi.

Tenney covered many national and international events as a young reporter, including the oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010 (also known as the Deepwater Horizon oil spill) and the Mississippi River floods in 2011.

He was elevated to a FOX News correspondent in March 2013, located in the FOX Midwest bureau in Chicago, Illinois. Tenney has been a national reporter for FOX since September 2015, reporting from the Washington, D.C. bureau.

With his wife Jamisyn Tenney, he has a son.

Garrett Tenney married his wife Jamisyn Tenney on August 9, 2014. Their wedding took place at the Salt Lake City Temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Tenney and his wife welcomed their first child, a son called Dallas Tenney, on December 29, 2017.
