When he slipped the ring into a bowl of hot water, we were both working late at the factory. He asked me to get a scraper from the bowl, but it was scalding hot when I reached in. I told him it was too hot and offered him another scraper, but he insisted on using the one he already had. I told him I couldn’t get it because the water was too hot, so he put his hand in it and his face turned bright red. “It’s scorching!” he exclaimed.

Furthermore, Hasty claims that when her husband said something like, “Will you really have me?” she began crying, shaking, and moving away from him. or “Are you really willing to be with me?” When Jacques tried to put the ring on her finger, Hasty was completely taken aback. The ring, however, became stuck on Hasty’s knuckle, and she recalls yelling “Push harder!” through her tears.
