Early Life

Isha was born in Sierra Leone to a Sierra Leonean family. She returned to their homeland at the age of seven and was raised in the Muslim faith. Her mother was a teacher, and her father worked for the Sierra Leone government. She had three siblings. Isha attended Fourah Bay College School and then went to the United Kingdom for further studies in 1992. She finished her A-levels and then went to Trinity College, Cambridge, to study. After toying with the idea of becoming an actress, she eventually decided to pursue a career as a journalist and began contacting various media groups for employment.
After graduation, she found work as a researcher for the BBC talk show “Kilroy.” She began as an unpaid intern but was eventually hired full-time, and in 1998, she relocated to Glasgow to work for BBC Scotland, where she would later land her first job as a television announcer on the show “BBC Choice.” She went on to host various programs for the BBC, TWI, and CNN before joining Sky in 2002.


Sesay worked for Sky for three years as the anchor for “Good Morning Sports Fans,” which was part of Sky Sports News. She was involved in a variety of high-profile projects, such as interviewing Ellen MacArthur, meeting Michael Watson, and traveling with the Arsenal football (soccer) team.
