The artist is the son of African American parents Gardner Brown and Susie Behling Brown (father). After being introduced to the world on May 3, 1933, in Barnwell, South Carolina, he was given the name James Joseph Brown Jr. Originally from Elko, South Carolina, the performer eventually resided in Augusta, Georgia.

James Brown passed away in Atlanta, Georgia, following pneumonia-related congestive cardiovascular failure. The Soul icon had gone to his Atlanta dentist before he passed away for a dental checkup but was advised to see his PCP instead for restorative care.

Brown was consequently admitted for treatment at the Emory Crawford Long Memorial Hospital. Later, on December 25, 2006, at 1:45 a.m., he passed away.

According to the singer’s close friend and house manager, Charles Bobbit, the musician had a loud hack that got worse when he returned from a musical outing in November. The open dedication administration for Dark Colored took place on December 28, 2006, in the Apollo Theater in New York City, and then on December 30, 2006, at the James Brown Arena in Augusta, Georgia.
