James Kimberly Corden is an English comedian, actor, singer, and television host best known for hosting CBS’s late-night chat show The Late Late Show with James Corden.

James Corden Early Life, Age, Parents

James Corden was born in Hillingdon, Greater London, on August 22, 1978. Malcolm and Margaret Corden gave birth to him. Corden’s father was a musician in the Royal Air Force band and his mother was a social worker.

He grew up in the Buckinghamshire town of Hazlemere. Corden is a British national with a Caucasian background. Park Middle School and Holmer Green Upper School were his new schools. Corden also has a younger sister, Ruth Corden, and an older sister, Andrea Henry.

At the age of eighteen, Corden made his stage debut with a one-line role in the 1996 musical Martin Guerre. His earlier television appearances were Gareth Jones in Boyz Unlimited in 1999. He also appeared in Tango commercials and starred in Teachers as a bookish student. Corden had a brief role in an episode of Hollyoaks in the year 2000. In 2004, he made guest appearances on Little Britain and Dalziel and Pascoe.

Corden starred in the British television sitcom Fat Friends from 2000 until 2005. He was nominated for a Royal Television Society Award for Network Newcomer in 2000 for his role as Jamie Rymer. Corden played Timms in the initial London theater productions of Alan Bennett’s play The History Books in early 2004. He co-starred in his own BBC Three sitcom, Gavin Stacey, from 2007 to 2010. Corden and his Fat Friends co-star Ruth Jones co-wrote the series. The show grew popular and garnered positive feedback. At the 2007 British Comedy Awards, he was named Best Male Comedy Performer, and his series was named Best New British Television.

Working alongside Gavin and Stacey

His professional pursuits outside of the successful sitcom Gavin & Stacey proved to be somewhat chequered over its two-year and seven-month run. In 2007, he was a guest host on Big Brother’s Big Mouth alongside Gavin & Stacey co-star Mathew Horne. With team captains Jamie Redknapp and Andrew Flintoff, James Corden began hosting the SKY1 comedy/sports panel show A League of Their Own in 2010. He hosted Sports Relief 2010 with Davina McCall and others in March 2010 and credited it as a “sequel” to the 2009 England football team sketch.

Other projects include One Man and Two Guvnors.

The 2011 Brit Awards were hosted by James Corden. Corden played Smithy in a Red Nose Day sketch for the charity telethon Comic Relief in March, reprising his Gavin & Stacey role. Gordon Brown, the then-UK Prime Minister, appeared in the sketch, as did Justin Beiber, Paul McCartney, and JLS. The sketch received good reviews from critics and is widely regarded as the night’s best sketch. Corden played the lead part in the comedic play One Man, Two Guvnors in June 2011. The play was broadcast internationally as part of the National Theatre Live cine casting, and after touring, it was transferred from the National Theatre to the West End.

Jams Corden is happily married. On September 15, 2012, he married Julia Carey. Corden met Carey through his flatmate, Dominic Cooper (actor), whom he had known for three years.
