Jeffrey Toobin was born to a Jewish household in New York City on May 21, 1960. He is the son of Jerome Toobin, a news broadcasting producer, and Marlene Sanders, a former ABC, and CBS News correspondent.

Jeffrey Toobin went to Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School in New York City, which is a private preparatory school. He then went to Harvard College for his undergraduate education, where he worked as a sports reporter for The Harvard Crimson.

With a Bachelor of Arts degree in American History and Literature from Havard, he graduated magna cum laude. He was also awarded the Truman Scholarship. He graduated from Harvard Law School with a J.D. magna cum laude in 1986 and worked as an editor for the Harvard Law Review.

Toobin later authored a book on his time at the Office of Independent Counsel, but Walsh objected, so he went to court to defend his right to publish, which he won. Personal Life of Jeffrey Toobin

Jeffrey Toobin is happily married to Amy Bennett McIntosh, his longtime lover. On May 31, 1986, the pair married. Amy graduated from Harvard in 1980 and went on to work for Verizon and Zagat Survey after earning her MBA from Harvard Business School. While working for the Harvard Crimson, the two met for the first time.

The couple has two children, a daughter and a son, who they are very proud of. In 2009, he had a kid with attorney Casey Greenfield, with whom he had an extramarital romance. Toobin and Greenfield had been together for over ten years. Amy forgives her husband despite the extramarital affair, and the couple is still together.

In an interview with journalist Fareed Zakaria in 2011, Toobin discussed his thoughts on the US Constitution. He indicated that he believes the US Constitution should be changed to eliminate the Electoral College and US Senate imbalances.
