Jennifer Ashton Ex-Husband Passed Away After Divorce,

Jennifer Ashton married Dr. Robert Ashton, a thoracic and cardiac surgeon, in 1996. They had two children, Alex Ashton, a son, and Chloe Ashton, a daughter.

The couple divorced in January 2017 after being together for over 21 years in their interracial relationship.
However, parting ways was not the major issue; the major issue arose when Ashton’s ex-husband Robert committed suicide two weeks after their divorce.

On February 11, 2017, the 52-year-old surgeon jumped from the George Washington Bridge.

Following her ex-suicide, husband’s the California native posted an Instagram message expressing her condolences.
She revealed that her and her children’s hearts had been broken. She went on to say that Robert was helpful and that he was a warm, generous, and kind person. Jeniffer, at least on the surface, remained optimistic, believing that her ex-death husband’s should serve as a wake-up call to anyone who has a loved one suffering from depression.

While discussing Kate Spade’s suicide on Good Morning America, Ashton revealed more about the death, or rather the aftermath.

She discussed what she and her two children had to go through in the immediate aftermath of her ex-suicide, husband’s as well as how they coped later on; they had to attend therapy sessions to get over the trauma of survival.

In an interview with PEOPLE, she stated that the lyric “You found the light in me that I couldn’t find” was echoed by her new-found partner’s actions.
