Jerami began his basketball career in 2011 with his secondary school team, where he played 23 games and averaged 12.5 points per game. In 2012, ESPN rated him as a four-star recruit and ranked him as the No.11 Force forward. In 2012, he transferred to Syracuse University, where he played for a long time and averaged 12.1 points per game.
In April 2014, he was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers, joining the team for the 2014 Summer League and establishing a long-term relationship with the club. He stayed with the club for three seasons, appearing in 144 games and averaging 6.3 points per game in 2014-15 and 9.7 points per game in 2015-16.
