She attended Crossroads School for the Arts and Sciences in Santa Monica before enrolling at the University of California, Berkeley, where she earned a degree in Comparative Literature.

Jocelyn Towne then relocated to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. She wanted to be a dancer and planned to study at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, but she changed her mind after working as a production assistant on the film “Copycat,” a psychological thriller starring Sigourney Weaver and Holly Hunter.
