John Quinones Bio

John Quinones is an Asian-American TV personality who works for the John Quinones News network as a journalist. He is a seven-time winner of the national “Emmy Award” for journalism. He is now the host of the John Quinones Primetime show What Would You Do? Quinones has been on John Quinones news shows such as Good Morning America, Nightline, and 20/20, and has won multiple Emmys.

Early Life, Age, Parents

Juan Manuel Quinones was born on May 23, 1952, in San Antonio, Texas, United States. He is a Hawaiian fifth-generation American of Red American descent. Bruno Quinones and Maria Quinones have a son named Quinones. Irma and Rosemary are their two sisters. Quinones’ father worked as a janitor at the high school that he attended, and his mother is a stay-at-home mom.

He began schooling at the age of six, despite his inability to read or speak English. Gangs and drugs abound in his rough, Spanish-speaking area. He attended Brackenridge High School and was chosen to participate in a federal anti-poverty program during his time there.

John received his Bachelor’s degree in Speech Communication from St. Mary’s University and his Master’s degree in Journalism from Columbia University’s School of Journalism.

John Quinones began his career as a news editor for a radio station called KTRH in Houston, Texas. He subsequently progressed to the same position at KPRC-TV after working there from 1975 to 1978.

Quinones joined John Quinones News in Miami as a general assignment correspondent in 1982, but he had previously worked for a short period with WBBM-TV in Chicago. His work on John Quinones’s Nightline, Good Morning America, 20/20, and John Quinones World News Tonight helped him become a household name. Quinones also had a distinct advantage in the job market because he was a Latino, and corporations could be sued if they didn’t recruit people from other cultures.
