Jorge Ramos is a Mexican-American journalist and author who works as the host of Fusion TV’s America with Jorge Ramos, the anchor of Noisier Univision, and the host of the Sunday morning news talk show Al Punto.

Ramos has received numerous national and international awards and accolades, including eight Emmy Awards for Excellence in Journalism and the prestigious Maria Moors Cabot Award from Columbia University in 2001.

Early childhood development and education

Jorge Ramos was born on March 16, 1958, in Mexico City, Mexico, as Jorge Gilberto Ramos Avalos. He is of Mexican nationality and is of white ethnicity. Ramos was raised in a Roman Catholic household. With his siblings, Lourdes, Alejandro, Gerardo, and Eduardo Ramos, he grew up in the Bosques de Echegaray neighborhood of Naucalpan, a suburb of Mexico City.

Ramos earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico. He then went on to the University of Miami in Miami, Florida, where he earned a Master’s degree in international studies. Ramos arrived in Los Angeles, California on a student visa in 1983 to enroll in UCLA’s extension journalism classes.


Since 1984, Jorge Ramos has been a part of KMEX-TV. He began hosting the Mundo Latino at KMEX after only two years. At the age of 50, Ramos became a citizen of the United States in 2008. In 2008, he covered the presidential debate at the University of Texas between Barack Obama and Senator Hillary Clinton. In 2013, it was announced that Ramos would co-host the first English-language show, America, with Jorge Ramos, for which he gained a lot of notoriety.

Apart from these, Ramos is the author of well-known books such as My Life, A Country for All: An Immigrant Manifesto, and No Borders: A Journalist’s Search for Home (Atravesando Fronteras).

Private life

In his life, Jorge Ramos married twice. Gina Montaner, the daughter of exiled Cuban author Carlos Alberto Montaner, was his first wife. The couple had one child, Paola Ramos, who was born in 1988, but they divorced in 1992.

Ramos remarried and has a son, Nicolas Ramos, with Lisa Bolivar. They married in 1992 at the Cathedral of San Juan Bautista in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in a Roman Catholic ceremony. Ramos and Nicolas, on the other hand, divorced in 20015. Ramos has also collaborated with a number of actresses. He started dating Ana de la Reguera, a Mexican actress who has appeared in films, telenovelas, and the HBO television series Eastbound & Down. Ramos has been in a relationship with Chiquinquira Delgado, a Venezuelan TV host, and actress, since 2011. Delgado is the father of two daughters from previous marriages. Ramos resides in Miami’s Coconut Grove neighborhood.
