In 2008, Juan Pablo Galavis, a former professional soccer player, retired. He was born on August 5, 1981, in Ithaca, New York, and raised there. He is best known for playing football as a midfielder/forward and for being a contestant on the show The Bachelorette. He was the first Latino celebrity to be cast in the reality show. He did, however, lose the competition. He is the youngest of three siblings. He was born in Venezuela to Venezuelan parents, who moved him to Barquisimeto when he was two years old.

He returned to the United States to play college soccer for Roberts Wesleyan College, where he was tied with two other players for the third-highest number of assists in the group starting in 2006. He joined Miami FC in February 2008 after a few seasons in the Primera División Venezolana with Dep. Italchacao, Aragua FC, Monagas SC, and Guaros de Lara.


After his 2008 season with Miami, he retired from soccer and began a career in the music industry, which included promotional work in Miami’s bar and club scene. He also began working with Venezuelan singer/lyricists Frank Santofimio and Mario Donoso around this time. They began promoting Chino y Nacho, a Venezuelan duo. In terms of his personal life, he had an affair with Caria Rodriguez, a Venezuelan actress. He and his girlfriend Caria have a daughter named Camila together. On February 14, 2009, she was born. The couple eventually split up due to personal reasons. He chose Nikki Ferrell as his partner on season 18 of The Bachelor, but the two also ended their relationship in October 2014. He is not yet married, but he is looking for his soul mate.
