Kadeem Hardison was born on July 24, 1965, in Brooklyn, New York City, USA, and is a director and actor best known for his role as Dwayne Wade in “A Different World,” a spin-off from the sitcom “The Cosby Show.”

Early Life

Little is known about how he became interested in acting, but he began his career in the early 1980s, appearing in minor roles on “ABC Afterschool Specials” and “American Playhouse.”

While working on television projects, he also appeared in a few films before landing his first major role in the sitcom “A Different World” as Dwayne Cleophus Wayne, in the sitcom originally centered on the character Denise Huxtable, played by Lisa Bonet, and the students of the fictional black college, Hillman College. After Lisa left the show during the first season, the focus shifted to Dwayne Wayne and Whitley Gilbert, both of whom were played by Jasmine Guy. The show has many similarities to “The Cosby Show,” and characters from that show appeared on the show throughout its run. Hardison would appear in 138 episodes of the show, which lasted until the sixth season.

Career

Kadeem made several guest appearances and had a few film projects before landing his second main role in the series “Between Brothers,” which starred alongside Dondre T. Whitfield and centered on four African-American men in their late twenties. The show, however, was short-lived, lasting only two seasons and 17 episodes before being canceled.

In 2003, he played Will Jeffries in the television series “Abby,” which centered on television producer Abigail “Abby” Walker, played by Sydney Tamiia Poitier, and her relationship with ex-boyfriend Will Jeffries. Despite the extensive promotion, the show received few viewers and negative feedback, particularly given its heavy reliance on sexual humor, and it was canceled after 10 episodes. During this time, Hardison had another project, “Static Shock,” in which he voiced Adam Evans for seven episodes, and he appeared in popular shows like “My Name is Earl” and “House.”
