American television personality Kelly Rippin is likely best known for serving as the former anchor of Nashville, Tennessee’s WZTV Fox 17 Morning News. She is also well known for her present position as the morning anchor of Cincinnati, Ohio’s WLWT Channel 5 News.

Childhood and Education

The younger of Rita and William Rippin’s two children, Rippin was born on May 11, 1987, in Butler, Pennsylvania, in the United States, under the sign of the Taurus. Her older brother, Mathew, is also a Taurus. Kelly is of white ethnicity and American nationality. The only information that is known about her family’s history is that her paternal grandparents are Walther and Kathleen Rippin.

Kelly Rippin completed her elementary schooling at Butler Catholic School before graduating in 2005 from Butler Senior High School in her hometown.

She continued her studies by enrolling at Pennsylvania State University, where she later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Public Relations and Broadcast Journalism while also minoring in business. When Kelly started anchoring for the Emmy Award-winning Penn State University news station Centre County Report throughout her studies, she began her on-camera reporting career. She joined WPXI-TV in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in the middle of 2007, where she finished “one portion” of her internship.

She worked as an intern in New York City from April to December 2008 under the guidance of anchor and CBS Evening News cover girl Katie Couric. In the middle of 2009, she interned at MSNBC.

Kelly Rippin’s professional broadcasting career began in 2011 when she joined the WBOT-TV team in Clarksburg, West Virginia.

The following year, she improved her craft by working as a weekend anchor and reporter. When Kelly moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, in August 2012, she joined FOX19 WXIX. Two years later, in October 2014, she was hired as the anchor and reporter for the WZTV Fox 17 Morning News in Nashville, Tennessee.

Rippin left Fox 17 in November 2017 and relocated to Orlando, Florida, where she joined the WISH 2 News team in January 2018. However, it has been made known that starting in June 2019, Kelly will move to WLWT in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he will join Randi Rico and Colin Mayfield for their weekday Channel 5 broadcasts.
