Early childhood development and education

Kristen Soltis Anderson was born in the city of Orlando, Florida, in the year 1984. Anderson earned her B.A. in Political Science from the University of Florida and went on to earn her M.A. in Government from Johns Hopkins University in 2009.

Anderson interned with the National Republican Congressional Committee’s financial department as a junior in college, and she was also nominated to the Florida Commemorative Quarter Committee by Florida Governor Jeb Bush. Later, as a senior, she interned at The Winston Group, a Washington, DC-based opinion research and communications firm. Anderson is of Caucasian origin and is an American citizen.

Professional Life

Anderson’s professional life began after she graduated in 2005. She elected to work full-time with The Winston Group, where she concentrated on youth voting and education reform.

Soon after receiving her graduate degree in 2009, she began publishing excerpts from her thesis as essays on Pollster.com and the Next Right. It’s a conservative site dedicated to cultivating young conservative voices committed to resurrecting the Republican Party.

In 2010, Democratic political strategist and commentator James Carville forwarded Anderson’s findings to various television programs, and journalists began to call for her vision.

Anderson then began appearing as a guest commentator on television news shows. She also worked as the Communications Director for a Republican super PAC that received $1 million to research the youth vote, while still working for the Winston Group.

Later that year, during the elections, Anderson worked as a communications adviser for Crossroads Generation, a Republican youth organization. She left The Winston Group in 2014 to co-found The Ruffini Group with Patrick Ruffini. Kristen Soltis Anderson co-hosted two live media blogs: Bloggingheads.tv’s “The Week In Blog” and Variety’s “Wilshire and Washington” weekly podcast.

She was the principal author of Grand Old Party for a Brand New Generation, a research book on how the Republican Party might reclaim the youth vote.
