Many institutions offered him a Division I scholarship, but he chose to join the University of Utah in 2013. In his last year, Kuzma entered the 2017 NBA Draft and was selected by the Brooklyn Nets. However, he signed his rookie scale contract with the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for a draft-day trade.
