Lights Bokan is a Canadian musician, singer, and songwriter best known for singles such as February Air, Ice, Drive My Soul, and others. Valerie Anne Poxleitner was born in the town of Timmins, Ontario, to missionary parents. She was born on April 11th, 1987. Her tattoos and constant tours around the world have made her famous.

Early Life

Due to her parents’ jobs, Lights spent her childhood in various parts of the world. She traveled throughout the Philippines, Jamaica, British Columbia, and Ontario. After moving to Ontario at the age of 18, she changed her name to Lights. Her interest in music led to her being signed as a songwriter for the show Instant Star when she was 15 years old. She rose to fame after the release of her single February Air. As her fame and expertise in the field of music grew, she was able to tour the Great Lakes Region in 2008. She then signed a record deal with Underground Operations as well as a deal with Doghouse Records as a partner. She also toured Europe, Canada, and the United States with Owl City in 2010.

Career

She won the Juno Award for New Artist of the Year, the Indie Award for Favorite Solo Artist, and the Astral Media Radio Award for Favorite Single in the 2009 Canadian Music Week for her musical achievements. All of these honors were bestowed upon her in recognition of her single, Drive My Soul. The Canadian Recording Industry Association gave her song The Listening a gold certification.

Personal Life

This lovely lady is married and has a child. Beau Bokan, the lead vocalist of the metalcore band Blessthefall, is where she met her husband. Beau requested to be introduced to Lights after they met at a Taking Back Sunday concert at The Wiltern in Los Angeles. They began dating soon after becoming acquainted through mutual friends. On September 1, 2011, this couple got engaged after he made fortune cookies for Lights with a note that read, “Will You Marry Me?” They married on May 12, 2012, and Lights changed her name to Lights Bokan. Rocket Wild Bokan, their first child, was born on February 15, 2014. Soon after, the family relocated to British Columbia. The couple appears to get along well in their personal lives and do not appear to be having any marital issues.
