For the past 55 years, she has been married to Abraham Quintanilla.

Selena Quintanilla-Pérez, the youngest daughter of Marcella Samora and Abraham Quintanilla, was murdered in 1995. At the time, the singer was only 23 years old.From the beginning, Marcella Samora’s husband’s guise as a talent manager was bearing fruit; Selena, who had followed in her father’s footsteps and become a musician, was on her way to superstardom.

Selena saved ‘Tejano’ cultured-music (roots from Texas and original Spanish-speaking Texans) from extinction by performing with her band Selena y Los Dinos. The American singer made music famous in Texas in the 1990s with her strong vocals and charismatic stage presence, and she became a music sensation. Her life dedicated to the art of the symphony, however, was overshadowed by her death.

Yolanda Saldvar, the former president of Selena’s fan club, murdered her over a business disagreement. Yolanda was apparently running Selena’s boutique business improperly, and when Selena confronted her, it irritated Yolanda.

She shot Selena during a heated argument. The incident shook both the music industry and Hollywood. The most tremors felt by Selena’s parents, particularly her mother. It’s nearly impossible to grasp a mother’s grief over the death of a child.

Marcella, on the other hand, was a strong woman who fought alongside her family for justice for her daughter and Yolanda’s conviction. Marcella’s undying love for her daughter must be the reason she is still working to honor her daughter’s memory—even after 25 years of her death.

The Selena Foundation is run by Marcella, her family, and Selena’s husband, Chris Perez, in memory of Selena. It is a non-profit organization that encourages young children to stay in school and learn family values in order to become better people.

Marcella Samora and her family planned to honor Selena with an album of remixed Spanish-language songs she recorded as a teen in order to keep her memories alive. The songs  remixed by a new generation of musicians.

In addition, the family has planned a tribute concert at the Alamodome in San Antonio on May 9, 2020. Pitbull, Ally Brooke, and Becky G  scheduled to perform on Salena’s music. The concert canceled due to the unavoidable circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic. The next big thing for Selena fans is a Netflix series titled Selena: The Series, which follows Selena’s rise to fame “as she and her family make sacrifices to achieve their lifelong dreams.”

In an interview with People magazine in March 2020, Salena’s father, Abraham Quintanilla, shared a promise he made to his family 25 years ago. He stated, When Selena died, I told my family that I was going to do everything I could to keep her memory alive through her music.

Today, with her music and life continuing to inspire many, father Quintanilla believes that he and his family have succeeded in keeping her daughter alive, promoting her musical work and inspiring life. And I believe we, as a family, have done so after 25 years.
Furthermore, in order to preserve his daughter’s legacy, he co-wrote a book with Nancy De Los Santos.

In a Facebook post, he stated that the books written about Selena by other authors were not accurate and credible. As a result, he has always wanted to write a book about Selena’s life. There is no news about book publishing.
