Mark is the youngest of nine children born to Donald E. Wahlberg Sr., a delivery driver, and his wife Alma Elaine, a bank clerk and nurses assistant; his mother is also a co-owner of the Wahlburger Restaurant Chain and a prominent cast member of the family reality TV show “Wahlburgers.” Mark had eight siblings: Arthur, Paul, Jim, Robert, Donnie, Tracy, Michelle, and Debbie, who died unexpectedly after a purportedly routine kidney operation during which she went into septic shock and got an infection, resulting in her death.
