Early Life

Paula grew up in Canton, Ohio, with her parents and three siblings; her mother was a school teacher, and her father worked in sales, and the nature of his work required them to move frequently, so they moved to Naperville, Illinois, where she attended Naperville Central High School and competed in several beauty pageants.
After matriculating, Paula attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, where she received a cello scholarship, and she then interned at WBBM-TV, where she gained experience in the news industry. She graduated in 1978 with a degree in journalism and spent the next ten years working at various local stations, including WFAA-TV, KPRC-TV, WHDH-TV, and KCBS-TV. However, in 2008, she became a co-host of the WNET show “SundayArts.”
