Rakim’s wife stood by his side as he fought allegations of child support against Nicole Smith.

The seasoned MC is married to Felicia and has three children with her. He has a son with Nicole Smith, in addition to the family he shares with his wife.
Despite being a family guy, he was arrested several times for failing to pay child support for his kid with Nicole.

While Rakim’s relationship with Nicole does not appear to have caused him any problems with his current wife’s family, it did cause him problems in other ways. He was arrested in 2004 for allegedly failing to make child support payments.
Smith said on Hot 97’s Morning Show (via MTV) that Rakim was late on child support payments by $25,000 and that he hadn’t seen their son in five years.
The MC stated that he was ignorant of the warrant. And that this was not the first time he had been wrongfully jailed for not paying child support. Rakim stated that he found out he was a father when he was arrested for the same accusations previously.

Rakim and his wife have three children: Tahmell Griffin and Jabar Griffin, two sons, and Destiny Griffin, a daughter.

The rapper was questioned if his parents’ relationship had an impact on his marriage when he appeared on The Breakfast Club. He said that it did, and he was grateful that he had been raised properly.
