Sage Steel was born on November 28, 1972, in Los Angeles, California. She is 44 years old and the daughter of Gary Steele, who in the 1960s was the first African-American to play varsity football at West Point.

Sage attended high school in Colorado, Springs, Colorado, and Carmel, Indiana when she was younger.
