Sandeep Singh is a hockey legend from India who is widely recognized as one of the world’s best drag-flickers. He is also a master at penalty corners. He was the captain that guided India to the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in 2009. He is a Haryana police Deputy Superintendent and an Indian field hockey player. In his biopic “Soorma,” Diljit Dosanjh portrayed Indian hockey hero Sandeep Singh, which premiered in India on July 13, 2018.

His full name is Sandeep Singh Bhinder.

His other name is Flicker Singh. He is a 32-year-old former Indian field hockey player who was born on February 27, 1986, in Shahabad, Haryana, India, to a Punjabi family. After finishing his education at Shahbad, Haryana, he earned a B. A. from Kurukshetra University. He also attended Patiala’s Khalsa College. He had been fascinated by his older brother’s hockey gear and outfit since he was a youngster.

Sandeep Singh’s Professional Career

Sandeep Singh began playing hockey after watching his older brother, Bikramjeet Singh, play. In 2004, he made his international debut in Kuala Lumpur at the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup.

He was doing well for the Indian hockey team until August 2006, when a gunshot incident caused him to spend months of bed rest.

Even though these were the hardest days of his life, he yearned to rejoin the Indian squad. He regained his health and made his comeback in the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in 2008, finishing as the tournament’s best scorer with 9 goals.

He was named captain in 2009, and India won the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup that year under his guidance. He broke Dhanraj Pillay’s record of 121 goals in 2012.

He is currently the DSP of the Haryana Police Department.

On September 26, 2019, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the Haryana Assembly Elections.

He ran from the Pehowa Constituency in Kurukshetra in the 2019 Haryana Assembly Elections, defeating his closest opponent, Congress’ Mandeep Singh Chatta, by 5,314 votes.
