Early Life

Shannyn is the daughter of Sherry Sossamon and her ex-husband Todd Lindberg and is of Hawaiian, Filipino, English, German, French, Dutch, and Irish ancestry. Her parents divorced when Shannyn was five years old, but not before she had a younger sister, Jenny Lee Lindberg, who is now a successful musician. She was raised in Reno, Nevada, by her mother and stepfather, Randy Goldman, a salesman and manager of an auto dealership. Shannyn attended Galena High School, where she graduated in 1995, and then moved to Los Angeles with a couple of friends, where she began taking dance lessons.

Career

Shannyn began DJing in the Los Angeles area alongside dance. But it was her modeling work that put her on the map. She began with Sassy Magazine, American Eagle Outfitters, and Planned Parenthood before appearing in two Gap commercials and appearing in videos for artists such as The Goo Goo Dolls, Cher, Daft Punk, and others. Although she studied dance, Shannyn never aspired to be a professional dancer; however, her work as a DJ led her to a party hosted by Gwyneth Paltrow’s brother, where she was spotted by casting director Francine Maisler.
