Shannyn is the daughter of Sherry Sossamon and her ex-husband Todd Lindberg and is of Hawaiian, Filipino, English, German, French, Dutch, and Irish ancestry. Her parents divorced when Shannyn was five years old, but not before she had a younger sister, Jenny Lee Lindberg, who is now a successful musician. She was raised in Reno, Nevada, by her mother and stepfather, Randy Goldman, a salesman and manager of an auto dealership. Shannyn attended Galena High School, where she graduated in 1995, and then moved to Los Angeles with a couple of friends, where she began taking dance lessons.
