Her father, Shrinivas Mandhana, is a chemical distributor and former state-level cricketer, while her mother, Smita Mandhana, is a housewife who manages Smriti’s diet and workout program. Her brother Shravan is also a Ranji Trophy player at the state level. She finished her schooling in Sangli, Maharashtra. She holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce from Chintaman Rao College of Commerce in Sangli, Maharashtra.

She signed up to play cricket for enjoyment at the age of nine, while accompanying her brother to state selection. Despite being a right-hander, she prefers to bat from the left side.
