Stefan Holt was born in the United States, in the city of Chicago. He is the son of Lester Holt, a notable journalist, and Carol Hagen Holt. He had a strong interest in journalism since he was a child, having grown up in a family of journalists.

Stefan graduated from Pepperdine University in Malibu in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in broadcast journalism. He conducted internships at KABC-TV in Los Angeles and NBC News in London throughout his college years.

Career

Stefan Holt was hired by WPBF in West Palm Beach, Florida, after completing his degree. Stefan worked at Palestra.net, which was a college network, in the year 2008. He covered the Southern California wildfires of 2007 as well as the presidential elections in 2008.

Stefan Holt joined NBC Chicago News in June 2011 as a reporter as well as a weekend morning anchor. Stefan was appointed to co-anchor of the NBC 5 News Today 4:30 p.m. broadcast in February 2012. After being hired by WNBC to host a new 4 p.m. broadcast, he said his goodbyes to Chicago in 2016. His father and dad had both worked at 30 Rockefeller Plaza.
