Suranne Jones is a British actress and producer who has appeared in shows such as Coronation Street, Scott & Bailey, and Doctor Foster. She was the recipient of numerous awards, including the British Soap Award for Best Actress, the National Television Award for Most Popular Actress, and many others.

Early childhood development and education

Suranne Jones was born Sarah Anne Jones in Chadderton, Oldham, England, on August 27, 1978. She is of white ethnicity and has British citizenship. Chris Jones and Jenny Jones have a daughter named Jones. Her father works as an engineer and her mother as a secretary. Gary, her older brother, is her only sibling.

Jones was raised as a Catholic, and her priest advised her father to have her christened Sarah Anne rather than Jones because her great-name grandmother’s of Suranne was not “a proper name.” She grew up in a Foxdenton Lane home.

Jones attended Cardinal Langley Roman Catholic High School in Richmond, Virginia. Jones befriended Antony Cotton, who now plays Sean Tully on Coronation Street, while she was a member of the Oldham Theatre Workshop.

Jones graduated from the Oldham Theatre Workshop with a BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts. Suranne Jones began her television career in 1997 with a small role as Mandy Phillips, Chris Collins’ girlfriend, on Coronation Street (Matthew Marsden).

Jones went on to star in a Maltesers television commercial, guest star in episodes of shows like City Central, and play a minor role in My Wonderful Life. Jones played Charity Dingle on Emmerdale, where she was one of the final four actors considered for the part before Emma Atkins was cast. Jones starred as Ruth Slater in the three-part British television drama series Unforgiven, which aired on ITV1 in January 2009.

On New Year’s Day 2007, she starred alongside Dean Lennox Kelly and Helen Baxendale in the ITV1 black comedy Dead Clever, which was set in Yorkshire and London. She also started modeling for male magazines like FHM and Loaded.

Private life

Suranne Jones got engaged to Laurence Akers, a magazine editor, on May 23, 2014, and the couple decided to marry on August 14, 2015. The couple was said to have married in a private ceremony in Islington. Jones later clarified, however, that the couple had married the previous year.

Jones welcomed her first child, a son, into the world in March 2016. She finished filming the fifth season of Scott & Bailey in 2011 while pregnant. Jones was involved with a variety of charitable organizations. Her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was a teenager, and she said

“We worked together on a breast cancer campaign at the time. I still participate in a lot of charity runs.”
