Chang started 50 of his 53 career games as a quarterback for the University of Hawaii Warriors from 2000 to 2004.
Chang broke Kliff Kingsbury of Texas Tech University’s (1999-2002) NCAA Division I-A records of 1,231 completions in 1,883 attempts and 15,031 yards set by Ty Detmer of Brigham Young University (1989-91) by completing 1,388 of 2,436 throws (57.0 percent) for 17,072 yards and 117 touchdowns. Chang eclipsed Kingsbury’s previous NCAA career best of 2,156 plays. Chang’s total offense of 16,910 yards broke Detmer’s record of 14,465 yards.
Chang was also a four-time Western Athletic Conference All-Star after rushing for six touchdowns.
Chang holds the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision all-time marks for total plays (2,587), passes attempted (2,436), and interceptions (2,436). (2,436). (80).
He is second in overall offensive yards (16,910), third in career throwing yards (17,072) and eleventh in touchdown passes (117). Chang has the career passing yards and total offense records for the school, as well as the second-most career passing touchdowns and total touchdowns.
