Andy Studi was a rancher. Wes began learning other languages, in addition to Cherokee, after starting primary school. He worked primarily in the dry cleaning industry after graduating from Chilocco Indian Agricultural School.

He enlisted in the Oklahoma National Guard and received basic combat training before transferring to Fort Polk, Louisiana, to complete his individual training.

He played Eric Schweig in the 1993 film The Broken Chain, in which he appeared. He later appeared in films such as Mystery Men, The New World, Trail of Tears, and Hostiles.
Before becoming an actor, Wes served in the military for a year with the 3rd Battalion, 39th Infantry during the Vietnam War.
Wesley Studi has received numerous accolades, primarily for his depiction of Native Americans’ plight.
